Pak-Turk Maarif Int'l Schools & Colleges organized its 3rd Teacher Development Programme, TDP-03 Module II in collaboration with Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa. TDP-03 Module II is the new framework for the primary years’ programme. TDP-03 Module II comprises of 2 courses. These courses were held as a face-to-face extension workshop phase. This face-to-face programme was organized at the Pak-Turk Maarif Chak Shahzad Boys Campus, Islamabad. Teachers from 9 campuses got the chance to learn from the best trainers from Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa namely Assoc Prof. Dr. Tuncer Can and Assoc Prof. Dr. Semirhan Gökçe. The duration of the programme was 5 days.
Pak-Turk Maarif strongly advocates that educating teachers with the latest knowledge is the best way to cope with the evolving education trends. TDP is an opportunity to earn internationally accredited certification. This training consists of two learning modules that progress in a modular way encompassing two subject domains, i.e., English and Mathematics. This course will focus on developing personal efficacy in the teaching and learning of mathematics in a holistic framework and bridge the gap between theory and practice by focusing on practical use of modern English language teaching strategies in the different phases of primary years.
Some of the discussed topics include Phonics, Principles of second language acquisition, Mathematical thinking and activities for problem-solving strategies, Assessment methods and differentiation, Technology integration for Mathematics Education, Probing and prompting questions in the mathematics classroom, and creative activities for young learners.
This training was organized by keeping in mind the cross-influence concerning a child's cognitive, social and emotional learning in a heterogeneous classroom, the training programs are made to be interactive, activity, and case driven.
The motto of learning together made this training a fruitful event. Active participation of teachers ensures that professional teaching skills and innovative approaches not only make it easy for teachers to teach but also make sure that students are actively involved in the learning process.
