26th March 2022 – Pak-Turk Maarif Lahore Boys Campus organized a “Saqafti Mela” to celebrate the broad cultural diversity at our school. This fair was held on Saturday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The words “Saqaft” and “Mela” are the words of Urdu language. “Saqaft” means customs and beliefs of a specific country, group, or culture and “Mela” refers to the fair or festival.
Campus Director of Lahore, Mr. Orhan Taşkıran, welcomed the students, parents, and teaching and non-teaching staff with a heart-warming speech. Students captured the color and spirit of the occasion by setting up cultural and food stalls from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Pakistan. They displayed their talents and enthusiasm by giving cultural performances from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, KPK, Gilgit Baltistan regions of Pakistan, and Kashmir.
More than 1500 people including students, their families, and teaching and non-teaching staff of the Maarif family gathered in the Lahore Boys campus to celebrate the cultures of Turkey, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. There was a fusion of colors and foods. Folk and cultural music filled the air with soothing sounds.
At Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges, we believe it is vital that students should have an in-depth knowledge of their culture and heritage through language, dialect, shared family history, stories, and research. Parents displayed great interest in the fair and appreciated the efforts for hosting an incredible fair to bring cultures together under one roof in such a well-organized manner.
