Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges celebrated the 100-Year Turkey Century with a momentous event to honor this historic milestone. The commemoration took place at the H-8 campus in Islamabad on 27 October. Bringing together guests, executive officers, students, parents, faculty members and an online audience, the event created a memorable atmosphere of unity.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Joint Educational Advisor and Secretary General of the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Syed Junaid Akhlaq, the Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Pakistan, Professor Dr. Mehmet Paçacı, the Country Director of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Mr. Harun Küçükaladağlı, and Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ms. Dilşad Şenol. Their attendance underscored the significance of the occasion and the strong ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The proclamation of the Türkiye Century was celebrated with the utmost respect and enthusiasm. The event showcased the remarkable achievements and progress made over the past century since the foundation of the Republic of Turkey through captivating art displays, paintings, and engaging presentations.
The esteemed guests shared their valuable views during the event:
Ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan, HE Prof. Dr. Mehmet Paçacı, spoke to the audience:
“The centenary of the Turkish Republic marks a remarkable milestone, symbolizing the extensive progress achieved in various domains. Notably, the enduring cultural bond between Turkey and Pakistan has grown stronger over the years, underscoring the depth of their relationship.”
The TRNC Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms. Dilşad Şenol also shared her valuable views by saying:
“I am filled with excitement to be a part of this momentous occasion in a country we consider our brothers and sisters. “I sincerely thank Pak-Turk Maarif and the warm-hearted individuals in this institution for making me feel so welcome.”
The Joint Educational Advisor and Secretary General of the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Syed Junaid Akhlaq, shared his views with the attendees of the event, quoted as saying:
“The brotherhood between Turkey and Pakistan is deeply entrenched in our shared history and is a source of strength and solidarity. “As we celebrate the Turkish Republic's remarkable 100-year journey, we extend our warmest wishes to the Turkish people.”
During his speech, the Country Director of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Mr. Harun Küçükaladağlı stated:
“The close ties between Turkey and Pakistan are exemplified by their rich cultural exchanges as well as educational collaborations, and the presence of Pak-Turk Maarif is a testament to this strong bond.”
The primary aim of this program extended beyond commemorating a hundred years of Turkey's remarkable journey. It sought to further fortify the deep-rooted bonds between Pakistan and Turkey, which are firmly founded on shared values, mutual respect, and a profound appreciation for each other's rich cultural heritage.
The event started with a historical documentary tracing the Turkish Republic's journey through the years. The 100 Years celebration featured enlightening speeches by distinguished guests and fascinating performances, traditional folk dances, and a heartfelt prayer to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The celebration reached its end with a ceremonial cake-cutting, followed by a delightful refreshment session, leaving lasting impressions on the attendees.
